ACGF – THAT FOR WHICH IT STANDS
Thank you for visiting our web site. Please allow us to introduce ourselves. 1. The “A” stands for Arkansas—The name Arkansas is linked to a French pronunciation of the original Indian tribe inhabiting the state and means “South Wind” in the Quapaw language. Arkansas is the state in which some of the “called out ones” meeting with us reside. Most of our services are also held in Arkansas. 2. The “C” stands for Church—one of the Greek words for church used in the New Testament is “ekklesia” meaning “called out ones.” (Those using the Hebrew may associate it with "congregation" or "assembly.) It does not mean the “edifice” location or the “organization” of the “called out ones.” It also does not mean the “meeting of the called out ones.” “In the N.T., the church fundamentally comprehends the whole number of regenerated persons specifically from Pentecost to the first resurrection (I Cor. 15:52; I Thess. 4:13-17) united organically to one another and to Our Messiah [The Anointed Messiah] by the baptizing work of the Holy Spirit (I Cor. 12:12-13; Rom. 6:3-4; Gal. 3:27; Eph. 4:5; Col. 2:10-12)…” (Unger’s Bible Dictionary, pgs. 204, 205, 1979 – 29th Printing). This word “ekklesia” in the Holy Writings refers to “those called out” for specific purposes. There is clearly a calling “from” and a “to” perspective. The calling “from” is “this world” (Strong’s #2889 – kosmos – meaning orderly arrangement), portraying the system and focus of man’s direction and pursuits. There is also a “calling out” to a “way of life” directed and acceptable to the Father. 3. The “G” stands for God –it is understood that the English word “God,” which is only a title, and the word “LORD” are represented by the translators of scripture for the name YHWH, pronounced Yahweh, as defined by the most reputable sources. YHWH is scripturally defined as the family name of Elohiym. 4. The “F” stands for Fellowship—The Greek term for fellowship is koinonia. The word koinonia carries the basic idea of having something in common. The word is related to koine, meaning “common”, which we use to refer to koine Greek, the original language of the New Testament, which was common to many people at a certain time in history. JUDE 3 speaks of our “common (koine) salvation”, referring to a salvation known and shared by all believers. Fellowship in the New Testament means joint participation in some area, defined by context. In no passage is fellowship presented as a goal or end in itself—it is merely the by-product of common goals or possessions. The more the believer discovers the salvation common to all other believers, the more fellowship occurs.
Arkansas Church of God Fellowship recognizes that it is not the only group that fulfills the definition of the Body of Our Messiah. Arkansas Church of God Fellowship recognizes that it is not free to or at liberty to prescribe the ways or methods in which the Father and the Son are to be worshipped—that is determined by and revealed by the Father and the Son in the pages of the Holy Writings, which Arkansas Church of God Fellowship holds to be the inspired writings of the Father. It is believed that the focus must always be a search for truth. In the Book of John, chapter 8:32, 36 we read: And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free…Therefore if the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. In John 17:17 we read: Sanctify them through Your truth. Your Word is truth. In John 4:23-24 Messiah told the Samaritan woman at Jacobs well: But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him. Yahweh is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. The formula is understood and practiced. All who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. Truth is defined as the word of YHWH. The Holy Writings are accepted as inspired by the Father. Therefore, all forms of worship will be found in the Holy Writings. No inculturation or syncretism of other forms of worship will be adopted into the worship of the Father and the Son. Arkansas Church of God Fellowship continues to seek and practice truth in all matters of worship. As a result of continued learning and growth, there is serious consideration of changing the title by which we are known so as to incorporate the true name--YHWH, which the majority of scholars pronounce "Yahweh." |
